Help! I Need Motivation!

So one of my resolutions this year was to get back into shape.
I was doing a great job all through January! I was attending 2 different classes at my gym every week (power lifting and yoga) and doing the Butt Bible and P90x Ab Ripper dvds at home. I was feeling fantastic! Then all of a sudden I hit a wall this past week. I haven't worked out since Thursday and I can't find the motivation. Its too dark out in morning to go to the gym before work and its too cold at night (not to mention I have too much reality TV to watch!!) The funny thing is that I actually thoroughly enjoy working out....its getting me there that is the tough part!!!

Last night I actually put work out clothes on, put my work out DVD in the DVD player....held the remote in my hand for a good 25 seconds...put the remote down, put Seinfeld on and poured a generous glass of vino.

What happened to my motivation??
Did I do too much all at once and end up burning myself out? Am I seriously just addicted to television? Do I not realize that my wedding is in 4 1/2 months???

I'm 47 days away from my first wedding gown fitting and I need help!!! I NEED to know....

Where do you ladies find your motivation?
What time of day do you work out?
What snacks do you eat that keep you away from the Tostitos and Doritos?
What work outs are you doing that are giving you results?
What are your secrets??

If only I really followed the mantras I have pinned on my "motivation" board on Pinterest....{sigh}

  1. I have been having the same difficulty with motivation. I can't workout before work because I leave too early and theres NO way I'm waking up at 430 am to work out (nuh-uh!) My problem is by the time I get home from work (445 ish) I'm already so tired from the day and the commute home that I'm not motivated either.
Lately I've just been MAKING myself do it. The snacks that I eat during the day usually are granola bars or almonds and Craisins (delish!)

I've found that telling myself that the only thing I will regret is NOT going (I saw it on Pinterest, haha) and it's helped to motivate me to go. Cuz, it's true--I feel guilty when I don't do anything, but never when I do

  2. Girl I feel you!!!! Sometimes I just don't wanna get out of bed in the morning or go to the gym after work. But 9 times out of 10 after I work out I am SOOOOOO happy I did!

I know you have a pinterest board (im still not on it haha) but I made a PHYSICAL inspiration board that hangs in my room. I see it EVERYDAY when I get ready or before I go to bed and it helps keep me motivated. I KNOW what I want to get to, and I know it's a habit not a quick fix. Maybe make a board of your wedding dress and summer attire and put it in your room. I also wrote CANCUN on my bathroom mirror so when I looked at myself I didn't want to cheat.

It's a gradual process though, maybe try yoga of zumba to switch things up. I know I get bored FAST and that's the quickest way for me to lose motivation.

Sorry for the novel but just some thoughts! you will look gorgie no matter what! xoxo

  3. Oh my gosh, we are too alike!! First of all I enjoy working out but its the getting there that is usually my problem. Even when "getting there" consists of only stepping outside to run on the boardwalk. I've done the whole, put my workout clothes on and act like I am going to work out and just head to the cupboard instead. It cracks me up you had the remote in your hand and traded it in for some wine. :) Maybe you are just burnt out right now and need a few days off. Winter is really hard to stay motivated. Right now I run first thing when I wake up because if I didn't do it right away then I wouldn't do it at all. When I was working I would have to run as soon as I got home before I did anything else. Good luck! I hope you get out of your rut soon. 47 days is still enough time!

  4. I did the same thing!! I was doing so well in January and then February came and I don't even know what happened but it's upsetting! I'm trying to get back on the right track. You will too! We just gotta keep it up - keep being motivated. Excellent motivation pictures by the way!!

  5. Ahhh I'm the same way, I love actually working out, but getting the motivation to do it is the hardest. Sometimes I find motivation by thinking of how mad at myself I'll be tomorrow knowing I didn't work out today. I work out before work, but I'm kind of lucky cuz I don't work til the afternoon so I have the whole morning to. I find at night I'm just too lazy and tired from the day to work out. Andd it is hard to stay away from Tostitos and Doritos..I love them both actually. I try to just not buy them, so then they aren't there to tempt me. I eat those little babybel cheeses for snacks and thin bagels, which are really good. There's this really easy bagel recipe thats good too, with veggies and cheese. I mostly just go on the treadmill and have recently started doing these workouts I found on pinterest. I can't tell the results yet, because i literally just started doing it yesterday but I feel it in muscles today! And you have plenty of time before your fitting, don't worry!! :)

  6. Have you tried getting a workout buddy? My husband is my and it makes it sooo fun!

I work out at about 430 everyday. I have more energy then than in the mornings!

Some good snacks-fruit, yogurt, english muffins with eggs or jelly or cheese, muffins!

  7. So true! The hardest part is just getting to the gym although I've been known to get there, get dressed, step on the treadmill and get right back off and go home. Some days are just not workout days. You'll pass the hump! Find a buddy! Think that bikini season is coming soon!

  9. the same thing happpens to me love! I will be really good for 2 weeks and then feel like it is okay to cheat when it is NOT! I go to my yoga classes 4/week after work (alternate between hot and power) and then I literally FORCE myself to do 30 min of cardio b4 work at least 2/week and then on the weekends take a day off or go to a yoga class. I always keep healthy snacks with me and do not buy any junk food - I like almonds, mini cliff bars, cheese sticks, fruit like apples and grapes - also make sure that your meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) have lean protein! I eat egg whites, grilled chicken, lean turkey, tilapia and I love to make different types of veggies. We can do this girlie!! :)

  10. Hey girl hey! Omg, Shannon as if you need to work out! Your so darn cute! I say do it at your own pace. I find that if I work out really hard the following week I think oh well I worked out really hard last week I don't have to do it this week?! I just try portion contol that way I don't feel like I'm starving myself from the things I really want. Cut up fruit and veggies work the best for me! Again I think you look great chica! ;)

  12. I struggle because I already wake up at 5am - I'm not waking up any earlier for an early morning workout and it is so cold at night! I have two classes I try to go to every week. Being a regular makes me feel guilty if I miss. As soon as I get home from work, I change clothes and then go straight to the gym. If I sit down, relax, turn on the television, or get on the computer then I get too sidetracked and will not end up going. I usually don't work out at home because its too easy for me to lose focus. I read somewhere that it takes 30 days to get into a routine - so pushing yourself for a month can really pay off.

My go-to snacks throughout the day are apple slices, carrot sticks, skim string cheese, and either Light and Fit yogurt or the small snack size Chobani, or sometimes 20ish whole grain goldfish. I try to take more snacks than I need to work so I won't ever be tempted to head to the vending machine or pick up an unhealthy snack. You look awesome but I'm totally in the same place with wanting to look perfect for my wedding! xo

  13. One trick of mine is I take my gym clothes with me to work and I change before I leave the office at the end of the day so that way I'm already dressed so I don't have to go home and change- plus if my co-workers see me in gym clothes I feel like I can't skip!
I also love Jillian Michaels videos, I did her 30 day shred for 2mths before my wedding and I was seriously in some of the best shape of my life. Hope this helps!

  15. Watching Madonna at 53 move like she did with her rocking body, gave me the motivation I needed this week. I was in the same position. I hope we are going to see the wedding gown! So exciting!
